Nice and New to Me

I haven't bought very much lately that I felt was a super bargain. But I have found  a few things that I haven't shared .

I bought 8 of these napkins for $10.00 last week.  I love the colors and they add just a hint of "fall" to the table.




I found this 2 tier white, metal stand at the same shop for $20.00.  It's really sturdy and has lots of possibilities.  Ceramic pumpkins......leaf garland...... you see where this is going.  :)



I think the grapes, napkins, and the rust color of the table cloth hint at fall.  The table cloth is a deep rust, not red as it looks in the other picture.

I had to touch up a place or two on the bookcase I painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, so while I had the paint out, I dry-painted this tray on the breakfast table.


I had previously painted it a dark color, but like the white much better. See below for the dark color.


 Also made a little change on the serving table in the breakfast nook.

 I like the green dish with the lemons/limes, and plant.  This dish was a VERY thrifty find in South Ga.

    I used to have that tray too in like a natural, I don't know whatever happened to it! I love it in white, if it shows up, it'll definetelly be white! Lots of hugs. FABBY

Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...

Thrifty Bookcase Makeover

About a year ago, I was working on a photo gallery area at the lake home. There is an area about 7x7 between the living room, and the hall bath. I bought a really inexpensive ($20.00) bookcase to use there to hold family photos. I hurriedly placed photos on it, and didn't think much about it.   The last time we were at the lake, I was sitting there looking at how badly it looked, wondering what I could do to spruce it up a little.  It had all colors/types of picture frames -red, pink floral, wood, brass, you name it!   I remembered seeing adhesive shelf liner at the Dollar General the day before.  So I made a quick trip back there, and bought one 9 ft. roll for less than $3.00.  I know this is not an original idea and has been done by lots of people, but I wanted to show you anyway.   First, I emptied out all the photos, pulled out the shelves, measured, and cut the paper to fit inside the bookcase.  I also took all the photos out of the frames and w...
