Christmas Tree From Clothes Hangers

I had energy for some reason today, and had my closet purged before 10 AM.!  Yay, me!!  Of course I gave my daughter a huge bag of stuff to go through to see if she wanted it, and took 6 bags to GW.  As usual, I had about 100 empty clothes hangers after doing this.  My husband was going to throw away the wire hangers when I remembered a YouTube tutorial for making a Christmas tree from wire hangers.  Here is how you do it:

You'll need:
6 wire hangers
masking tape
garland or geo mesh
lights (plug in or battery operated) mine are battery operated
ornaments or other Christmas decor

First interlock two of the hangers by placing the hooks inside the opposite hanger and hooking it in place, tape at the top and along the sides to hold together.

Make three of these, using all 6 hangers.  Be sure to tape as shown.

Make 3 of these, then interlock them and use the tape to hold the form together.  When all 6 are taped together, they will look something like this.

I didn't have green garland on hand that I could use on a small project, so I used wide red geo mesh and bunched it up, then wired it around the hangers.  I continued to do this until all the wire was covered.

The lights I had on hand are battery operated which worked out great since I do not have a plug in where I wanted to place the tree.

For decorations, I used berries, holly, snowflakes and gold jingle bells.  I hot glued all of these in place so they would stay.

By using things I had on hand, this project was free.

Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better.  I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final.  I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk  about it quite yet.  But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.  I now understand the meaning of Never say "Never"!  Things can happen to us when we are vulernable that we think would never  happen.  ...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...

What's in the Hutch?

Yesterday I awoke in the mood to do some "deep" cleaning.  First on my list was to dust inside the china cabinet in the dining room.  Can you believe how much dust can get into a closed cabinet.  Really, how does that happen?  My cabinet has glass shelves and they were hazy with dust.  This is a rather tedious job because I not only have china inside, I have all kinds of little "pretties" stored there too.  It's one of the first things you see upon entry into our home, so I really should do this more often.  I want show you the before, sufficeth to say, it had been a while since I had tackled this chore.  Here are some photos showing the "after". Here is a collection of vases and crystal pitchers .   These were all gifts except the smallest one in the front and the one to the right of it. China and a consignment shop cake plate.  The china was formerly my MILs. More china . This little fairy lives here with her 2 sisters. They ...
