Good Will Treasure in Blue

I showed you all the fabric I found at the Good Will here.
That wasn't the only thing I bought.  This beautiful bowl was my other treasure @$5.22.  An employee was just putting out items, and this bowl was one of them.  A lady grabbed it the minute it went on the shelf.  I commented to her that she would certainly enjoy it.  She asked me if I wanted it, and I told her no, that she got to it first.  I didn't think any more about it, but on another pass down the aisle, I saw her put it back on the shelf.  This was a good while later.  So...... you know the rest!  It's mine!

I didn't get a photo before placing the dried hydrangeas in it, but the photo above shows the inside of the bowl.

At first, I placed a lot of hydrangeas inside.  But I later took the pink ones out and used them in the dining room. (I'll show you later).

Then I decided to only use the blue and white ones.

I have this on the hall tree.  :)

I'm loving this look!  The bottom holds a blue and white urn filled with faux hydrangeas.  The burlap runner and wreath play off each other as well.

View when entering the front door.  Love, love!!

I couldn't believe the lady decided against getting this bowl, but I'm really glad I saw her put it back on the shelf!

Linens & Things

I love finding tablecloths, runners, napkins, and other linens when I am out thrifting. Whether it be at consignment shops, GW, or yard sales, I will usually snap up a pretty linen if it doesn't have a lot of stains.  I will show you some of my favorites. I found several pieces embroideried with this design at a favorite consignment shop. This blue runner (reversible to stripes), found on consignment. This is one of the nicer quality tablecloths I have found, $4.00 at a thrift store. This cloth was around $10.00 on consignment. This runner is also reversible to polka dots, and was a consignment find. This pink and white gingham is perfect in the sun room, and is a consignment find also. This is the most valuable table cloth I have found, and it was $2.00 at a nearby yard sale.  It is a vintage Wielunder.  They sell on ebay for 30 - 90 dollars.  Mine is in pristine condition! Christmas tablecloth, consignment sale. ...

What's in the Hutch?

Yesterday I awoke in the mood to do some "deep" cleaning.  First on my list was to dust inside the china cabinet in the dining room.  Can you believe how much dust can get into a closed cabinet.  Really, how does that happen?  My cabinet has glass shelves and they were hazy with dust.  This is a rather tedious job because I not only have china inside, I have all kinds of little "pretties" stored there too.  It's one of the first things you see upon entry into our home, so I really should do this more often.  I want show you the before, sufficeth to say, it had been a while since I had tackled this chore.  Here are some photos showing the "after". Here is a collection of vases and crystal pitchers .   These were all gifts except the smallest one in the front and the one to the right of it. China and a consignment shop cake plate.  The china was formerly my MILs. More china . This little fairy lives here with her 2 sisters. They ...

Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better.  I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final.  I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk  about it quite yet.  But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.  I now understand the meaning of Never say "Never"!  Things can happen to us when we are vulernable that we think would never  happen.  ...
