Easter in the House

Easter décor is out in our home. I'm using mostly items I have used before.  I do have a couple of new additions though,
like this sweet little sheep.

I found the larger sheep, and the butter dish the same time I bought the table for the powder room, here.

I spray painted this 2 tiered basket green.  It was originally black.

 Little bunny in a cloche.

This pink rabbit came from Wal Mart.

Love these two little bunnies.

This wreath (above) is an old one that I removed everything from, and hot glued plastic eggs and a peat flower pot on and added some pastel curly ribbon.  I am happy with how it turned out, and it cost nothing as I already had everything.

I found this butterfly shaped sign at the DT.

Wal Mart has some of the prettiest speckled eggs this year.  Here are some in this wooden box.

Tweaked the display on this table.

Here, I placed the distressed mason jars in a rack from an old canner which I spray painted white.  They remind me of the colors of Easter eggs.

Have you decorated for Easter?

It's less than 2 weeks away.

Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better.  I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final.  I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk  about it quite yet.  But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.  I now understand the meaning of Never say "Never"!  Things can happen to us when we are vulernable that we think would never  happen.  ...

Linens & Things

I love finding tablecloths, runners, napkins, and other linens when I am out thrifting. Whether it be at consignment shops, GW, or yard sales, I will usually snap up a pretty linen if it doesn't have a lot of stains.  I will show you some of my favorites. I found several pieces embroideried with this design at a favorite consignment shop. This blue runner (reversible to stripes), found on consignment. This is one of the nicer quality tablecloths I have found, $4.00 at a thrift store. This cloth was around $10.00 on consignment. This runner is also reversible to polka dots, and was a consignment find. This pink and white gingham is perfect in the sun room, and is a consignment find also. This is the most valuable table cloth I have found, and it was $2.00 at a nearby yard sale.  It is a vintage Wielunder.  They sell on ebay for 30 - 90 dollars.  Mine is in pristine condition! Christmas tablecloth, consignment sale. ...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...
