Love an Old Tote

I keep on changing this old tote.  When I first found this treasure, it was dark green!!  Ugly dark green, full of webs and dirt.  I don't know if it had been used to hold flower pots or as a tool box.  Either way, I knew I had to have it and I remember being glad that it could be mine for $20.00!!



I first transformed it to white and used it on the dining room table to hold ball jars, candles, flowers, etc.  I painted the insides of the section in a blue color of paint I had on hand.



 Nothing stays one way very long around here.


I eventually embellished it by using Mod Podge to imprint a picture of a rooster on each side. (above)




Then its next change was painting the whole thing French Blue by ASCP, leaving the roosters on the side.  Loved  using it to hold dried hydrangeas.

Well, today was the day for a new look!!  Pink!  Yes, pink!!  Now it holds bargain flowers and sits atop the jelly cupboard in the sun room!!



Love the pink!!

Just thinking, it might get a white fleur de lis stenciled on the side!  (yep, think it will)!

Thrifty Bookcase Makeover

About a year ago, I was working on a photo gallery area at the lake home. There is an area about 7x7 between the living room, and the hall bath. I bought a really inexpensive ($20.00) bookcase to use there to hold family photos. Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...
