What a Bargain!!

I've been keeping my granddaughter since school got out for summer vacation, and today she wanted the two of us to go for pizza for lunch.  So on the way there, we saw a sign at a nearby really nice subdivision that read "Moving Sale".  After our lunch, we came back and went to the sale.  The lady was letting everyone go through her home.  She was trying to sell everything, and had done a fine job it seemed.  There wasn't a whole lot left considering the size of the home.  I did notice one little treasure that I didn't pass up.  A sweet chair......with curvy legs......a beautiful design on the back...and.......a.....needlepoint seat!!

Guess how much I gave for this pretty little chair??????  Any idea??????

$15.00!!!

Now, do I paint her?  I'm thinking she would be pretty in a beige with dark wax, and distressing.

Then there is some pretty blue in the needlepoint design.

There's always white, or if I want to keep it in this room, I could go with my favorite aqua color.  If I want it in my office I recently madeover (here), I could paint it Copper Patina to match the walls.

What's in the Hutch?

Yesterday I awoke in the mood to do some "deep" cleaning.  First on my list was to dust inside the china cabinet in the dining room.  Can you believe how much dust can get into a closed cabinet.  Really, how does that happen?  My cabinet has glass shelves and they were hazy with dust.  This is a rather tedious job because I not only have china inside, I have all kinds of little "pretties" stored there too.  It's one of the first things you see upon entry into our home, so I really should do this more often.  I want show you the before, sufficeth to say, it had been a while since I had tackled this chore.  Here are some photos showing the "after". Linens & Things

I love finding tablecloths, runners, napkins, and other linens when I am out thrifting. Whether it be at consignment shops, GW, or yard sales, I will usually snap up a pretty linen if it doesn't have a lot of stains.  I will show you some of my favorites. I found several pieces embroideried with this design at a favorite consignment shop. This blue runner (reversible to stripes), found on consignment. This is one of the nicer quality tablecloths I have found, $4.00 at a thrift store. This cloth was around $10.00 on consignment. This runner is also reversible to polka dots, and was a consignment find. This pink and white gingham is perfect in the sun room, and is a consignment find also. This is the most valuable table cloth I have found, and it was $2.00 at a nearby yard sale.  It is a vintage Wielunder.  They sell on ebay for 30 - 90 dollars.  Mine is in pristine condition! Table for Two

 This is what the table in the sun room looked like yesterday.  I was organizing my napkins, runners, etc., and came across the red items, so I decided to make the table a totally valentine table and changed out the napkins and plates.  :)  I also placed a lovely cupids figurine under the dome I made from Habitat items. The windows in this room face the East and look out on to a view of gentle  rolling hills. The morning sun streams in and warms the room.  I have had this little cupids piece for a very long time.  I think I got it at Eckerd Drugs years ago.  It's not even Eckerd Drugs anymore.  It's now Rite Aid. I think they had cuter things a long time ago than they do now. The flowers in this bouquet are from Dollar Tree, as is the ribbon and garland.  I received roses from my husband in the vase a number of years ago.  The little red bird nest is an old Christmas decoration.  I've probably had it for 25 years or more....
