A Touch of Spring Fever

I've got it bad....... y'all, it was 70 degrees here today.  Last Tuesday, we were having a dang blizzard!!  It's a weather merry-go-round, but that's o.k.!!  Today was gorgeous!!  In keeping with the beautiful weather, I'm sharing some Spring items I've managed to incorporate into the decor.

I've added a few touches of Spring in the living area.  I left these heart pillows I made for Valentines out because of the Spring colors in the fabric.

This is the vignette on the entry table now.  It's gone from red to aqua and white, with just a touch of green, and most of these items are pre-loved too!

The mantel is ready for Spring.

Lighter colors on the coffee table.

In the dining room,

family room,

I'm trying not to go over board YET with Spring decor, but it's starting to creep into the rooms here.  I'm about ready for some rabbits, but Easter doesn't come until April 20th, so they will have to wait.
Are you getting Spring fever??
Anxiously awaiting......

Thrifty Bookcase Makeover

About a year ago, I was working on a photo gallery area at the lake home. There is an area about 7x7 between the living room, and the hall bath. I bought a really inexpensive ($20.00) bookcase to use there to hold family photos. I hurriedly placed photos on it, and didn't think much about it.   The last time we were at the lake, I was sitting there looking at how badly it looked, wondering what I could do to spruce it up a little.  It had all colors/types of picture frames -red, pink floral, wood, brass, you name it!   I remembered seeing adhesive shelf liner at the Dollar General the day before.  So I made a quick trip back there, and bought one 9 ft. roll for less than $3.00.  I know this is not an original idea and has been done by lots of people, but I wanted to show you anyway.   First, I emptied out all the photos, pulled out the shelves, measured, and cut the paper to fit inside the bookcase.  I also took all the photos out of the frames and w...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...
