Cloche Encounters

Marty (A Stroll Thru Life) is having a fun party so we can all show off our cloches!  I always enjoy her parties.  She's such a gracious hostess.  Be sure you stop by to see all the decorating ideas for using your cloches.   Right now, most of my cloches are holding birds.  Come along and see them.  I've really enjoyed using them this way.

First up, though, is my cheese dome/cloche that I filled with ceramic roses.  I made this early in my blogging days, but recently painted it aqua and added a fleur de lis.

This swirly cloche sits on a Limoge plate, and covers a sweet birdhouse.  It is part of a tray vignette on the coffee table.

The colorful bird in this cloche is from Dollar Tree.

I love using this large cloche with the white pedestal, and the key with yellow ribbon blend in so well.

You've seen this little bird before.  The sign it carries says "Joy".

Here the white bird in the cloche is a DT purchase from about 3 years ago.
The pink bird was only 80 cents at HL.

This little beauty came from Queen of Hearts at Buford, GA. (love that place)!!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my birds and cloches. Which is your favorite cloche and bird?  Don't forget to go visit Marty!!

  1. Hi Kathy,
I love all of your cloche displays. I think that whenever you place an item underneath a cloche is automatically takes on prominence and beauty. I have many and most contain shells.

  6. Well, first I have to comment on your post title which cracked me up! Even my husband got a kick out of it (we just watched Close Encounters last week)!
Love your different cloches. I can't decide which is a favorite but I do like the key accent on those two! I would like to get a wire cloche but I never see them in a store- I guess I'll have to order one.

Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better.  I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final.  I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk  about it quite yet.  But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.  I now understand the meaning of Never say "Never"!  Things can happen to us when we are vulernable that we think would never  happen.  ...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...

Bar Stools Makeover

I'm still receiving therapy by keeping my hands busy, plus today I ran quite a few errands.  It's been a crying day for me today.  Just so much to worry about.  It seems like sometimes everything is just messed up, and there's nothing we can do to fix any of it.   Night before last, I painted the bar stools.  I've had them since 2000, and they were nice, but I was just in the mood to paint them!!  The form of the stools had a textured bronze color, the seats were beige with the fleur de lis design, and the wood across the back was brown.  Well, needless to say, they got their own coat of chalk paint in white, the seats covered in blue and white, and the boards across the back are blue.  I have the fabric to make matching placemats and napkins, but today was not the day to try to sew, for me.  I'm just too nervous.  In fact, I didn't do anything creative today except switch out the curtains in the powder room that I only made and p...
