Come In and Sit a While

I don't think I have shared the front screened porch at the lake home.  We haven't purchased any new outdoor furniture, just making do with what we have. We had a swing hung when the porch was built, and that's my favorite spot.  The swing was built locally.

I like the cup holders made into the arms of the swing.
These are just regular stacking chairs.

This is an old coffee table I painted white and decorated with recent yard sale finds.  That's a lazy susan underneath the table.  I need to sand and repaint it and use it inside.

Nothing fancy, just a place to relax, have a cool drink, and look at the lake.

Come back anytime, and sit for a while!!

  5. I think your porch is a very pretty place to sit and relax with a nice magazine and a tall glass of iced tea. I would love to have a swing on my back porch. We had one when I was a child and I loved to sit and swing in it with my doll. Hope you have a nice day enjoying your porch and the lake.----------- Shannon

Linens & Things

I love finding tablecloths, runners, napkins, and other linens when I am out thrifting. Whether it be at consignment shops, GW, or yard sales, I will usually snap up a pretty linen if it doesn't have a lot of stains.  I will show you some of my favorites. I found several pieces embroideried with this design at a favorite consignment shop. This blue runner (reversible to stripes), found on consignment. This is one of the nicer quality tablecloths I have found, $4.00 at a thrift store. This cloth was around $10.00 on consignment. This runner is also reversible to polka dots, and was a consignment find. This pink and white gingham is perfect in the sun room, and is a consignment find also. This is the most valuable table cloth I have found, and it was $2.00 at a nearby yard sale.  It is a vintage Wielunder.  They sell on ebay for 30 - 90 dollars.  Mine is in pristine condition! Christmas tablecloth, consignment sale.   Consignmen

Trash to Treasure

We had noticed this "jar" sitting near a trash pile, and my husband decided to see what it was.  It was full of dirt, and covered in grime.  After soaking it a while, it looked much better. The shape and color is very nice. At first I thought it might be a globe for a lamp or some type of candle holder. The bottom has an opening, and no markings. Do you know what it might be? This is how I'm using it. It's made of thick bubbled glass. Any guesses?? Know what this was in its former life?   It makes a wonderful vase for faux flowers! It's a vintage fly /wasp trap!!   Once yucky, now pretty!!! Cheery Cherry Tablescape

Today I am sharing the tablescape on the sunroom table. A setting for two using my cheery, cherry thrifty finds. I found this Festival dinnerware about a year or so ago at a consignment shop that is no longer in business.  I got a four place setting consisting of dinner plate, salad plate, serving bowls, glasses, cups/saucers, and salt/pepper for $10.00.  I decided I would use them now since they are red, white, and blue. I used white placemats, also from consignment shop.  The red napkins are from Wal Mart, and so versatile since I can use them for Valentine's, Christmas, and other seasons.  The smaller white napkin is something I made from a scrap of fabric from the clearance bin at Wal Mart.  The white furniture, and the bright light coming through the windows makes this colorful setting "pop"! The stainless is from a set of 40+ pieces that I bought at my daughter's consignment sale for $10.00.   The napkin rings were purchased at a yard sa
