Porches at Shadymont

As you come up the drive, you will see the front wrap around porch.  There's also a small stoop at the mud room next to the garage.

From the rear of the house, the screened porch can be seen.  This was once a deck, but stayed so hot all day we couldn't use it, so hubby had it screened.  Now it gets lots of use.

I will admit that we have yet to spruce everything up on the porches for the summer, but I wanted to join in on the blog party anyway.

This is the front door with a wreath I made earlier this year.
Here are shots of other items on the front porch.

This little table was one of the first items I bought from consignment.  It was originally painted beige and had fern leaves painted on it.  I painted it Valspar Mediterranean blue a few weeks ago.
The rockers are in major need of paint.  Hopefully soon!  :)

This is a shot of the stoop going into the mud room.
Follow me through the house to the screened porch.
I recently covered the cushions in fabric I found at Good Will.

This rug was in the breakfast nook.  I moved it to the screened porch for a change.  Probably won't leave it here.
Thanks for your visit.  Stop by anytime.  We have plenty of porches and love to sit outside and chat!
Be sure you visit the blog party.  I'm linking through Kim's Porches and Decks party.

  5. Love your beautiful home with its lovely porch. Thanks for stopping by. I have a friend that lives in North Georgia. We used to make yearly trips to Helen, GA. We went to Babyland General in Cleveland when those dolls were so popular. That area is so pretty.

Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better.  I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final.  I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk  about it quite yet.  But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.  I now understand the meaning of Never say "Never"!  Things can happen to us when we are vulernable that we think would never  happen.  ...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...

Bar Stools Makeover

I'm still receiving therapy by keeping my hands busy, plus today I ran quite a few errands.  It's been a crying day for me today.  Just so much to worry about.  It seems like sometimes everything is just messed up, and there's nothing we can do to fix any of it.   Night before last, I painted the bar stools.  I've had them since 2000, and they were nice, but I was just in the mood to paint them!!  The form of the stools had a textured bronze color, the seats were beige with the fleur de lis design, and the wood across the back was brown.  Well, needless to say, they got their own coat of chalk paint in white, the seats covered in blue and white, and the boards across the back are blue.  I have the fabric to make matching placemats and napkins, but today was not the day to try to sew, for me.  I'm just too nervous.  In fact, I didn't do anything creative today except switch out the curtains in the powder room that I only made and p...
