Thrifty Finds

Oh my goodness,  I found a new consignment shop that I can go to on my lunch hour at work.  It's just the cutest shop, run by an interior designer.  The shop is called "Sweet Tea".

I came away with some great thrifty treasures.  I've been busy tonight with family things and have not had a chance to "set" these up, but wanted to give you a peek anyway.  I'll do a better job using these soon and show them again.

Here is a 3 tiered plate stand that I got for $4.95.

The little plates on it were 55 cents each.  I will find a solid one to match and take a new picture.  I also might spray paint the stand with ORB.
close-up of the 55 cents plates.

This pretty floral arrangement was only $3.95.  The bucket it is in is seafoam green.  Goes great in my sun room.

The best deal of all though, was a full set of dishware, 4 place setting including the salt and pepper shakers, and tea glasses, cups/saucers, dinner plates, salad plates.... the whole set for...............
drum roll please.................
$12.95

For $24.00 and change I came away with all this!!

Again, I will show these in a better post soon, but couldn't wait to show you these pieces.

Blessings,

Kathy

  1. No. Way.

I'm so jealous. I need a tiered plate stand - those are great for serving and especially when my Bible study meets here. And those fruit plates...that is a total score!

Wonderful finds ... how lucky to have a thrift shop right near where you work! Now you know where you can spend your paychecks. :-)

Thrifty Bookcase Makeover

About a year ago, I was working on a photo gallery area at the lake home. There is an area about 7x7 between the living room, and the hall bath. I bought a really inexpensive ($20.00) bookcase to use there to hold family photos. I hurriedly placed photos on it, and didn't think much about it.   The last time we were at the lake, I was sitting there looking at how badly it looked, wondering what I could do to spruce it up a little.  It had all colors/types of picture frames -red, pink floral, wood, brass, you name it!   I remembered seeing adhesive shelf liner at the Dollar General the day before.  So I made a quick trip back there, and bought one 9 ft. roll for less than $3.00.  I know this is not an original idea and has been done by lots of people, but I wanted to show you anyway.   First, I emptied out all the photos, pulled out the shelves, measured, and cut the paper to fit inside the bookcase.  I also took all the photos out of the frames and w...

Stenciled Burlap Pillow

I just have to share my no sew pillow project.  I had some burlap fabric in my fabric stash, and decided I would use it to cover a pillow.  First, I found an old pillow I no longer use.  I spread the burlap out on the floor and laid my pillow on it so I could cut the fabric big enough to cover it.  I was so intent on the project, I didn't make any pictures of the process. Once the burlap was cut, I folded in the sides about an inch, and glued it down with Tacky Glue, pressing it down several times with my fingers.  I did this all the way around the fabric, and laid it aside to dry over night.  The Tacky Glue dries clear. My next step was to determine how I could lap the fabric over the cushion in an envelope fashion.  I had tried to get my computer to print out a graphic that would show up on the burlap, but printer problems interfered with that plan, so I found the center, and stenciled it with the tree stencil I bought at Michael's. ...
