Simple elegance


I love using white, silver and pink together.  I am sharing my recent tabletop and china cabinet vignettes using those colors.  Don't you just love the little fairies?  Their wings are gossamer.  I got them at Kirkland's several years ago.  They remind me of little girls playing together.  Enjoy!!

The silver service belonged to my late mother-in-law.  She passed away 4 years ago at the age of 96.  She was always so careful to keep it polished so I try to do so too.

The NAO bride and groom figurine was a wedding gift from my best friend.
The china belonged to my mother in law also.  It has a gray band with a pink floral design on white.  I just love it.

The grapes are crystal from a gift shop near my home.  They are actually Christmas Ornaments.

    The silver tea set is certainly a real treasure, and looks great. Such lovely fairies, so cute! It's so nice that you love and use your MIL's things, I think that family pieces have such strong attachments - I can't fathom the folk who just throw all the stuff out when clearing after berevement not even keeping one or two 'special' pieces you know that they had treasured.

    So happy to see you for Sunday Favorites this week, sweet lady! I'm sorry that I'm so late in getting by for a visit...I'm just running behind...eeks! Ohhh my...your MIL's china and silver tea set are gorgeous! I'm sure she would be very pleased to see that you are taking such good care of it...and enjoying it! I agree...silver, white, and pink...are so stunning when paired together! I just recieved my MIL's china last year...it is white with tiny pink roses and silver banding! I love doing up a pretty table with it! Anyway, your pretty china looks sooo beautiful in the cabinet! I love the little crystal grapes! Well dear lady, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful treasures with us for Sunday Favorites...such a treat!!!

I love finding tablecloths, runners, napkins, and other linens when I am out thrifting. Whether it be at consignment shops, GW, or yard sales, I will usually snap up a pretty linen if it doesn't have a lot of stains.  I will show you some of my favorites. I found several pieces embroideried with this design at a favorite consignment shop. This blue runner (reversible to stripes), found on consignment. This is one of the nicer quality tablecloths I have found, $4.00 at a thrift store. This cloth was around $10.00 on consignment. What's in the Hutch?

Yesterday I awoke in the mood to do some "deep" cleaning.  First on my list was to dust inside the china cabinet in the dining room.  Can you believe how much dust can get into a closed cabinet.  Really, how does that happen?  My cabinet has glass shelves and they were hazy with dust.  This is a rather tedious job because I not only have china inside, I have all kinds of little "pretties" stored there too.  It's one of the first things you see upon entry into our home, so I really should do this more often.  I want show you the before, sufficeth to say, it had been a while since I had tackled this chore.  Here are some photos showing the "after". Blogging Again From My Mountain Cottage, Shadymont

After a much needed rest, I'm back with a new blog name and a few slight changes, like the template, and the content will vary and not always be home decor, though that is my niche, and I will continue to have it frequently.  But I want to use my blog to also give those who may read it a little encouragement into the Goodness of God. Some of the fog from my depression is lifting now and I'm starting to feel better.  I've had a really hard time, personally, for the last seven months, and the divorce still isn't final.  I think it is nearing being final now though, and I hope I will continue to get clarity from this fog. I have a story to tell regarding other matters, but I still am not able to talk  about it quite yet.  But when I say I've been through the fire, or maybe the pits of hell, just believe me.  I now understand the meaning of Never say "Never"!  Things can happen to us when we are vulernable that we think would never  happen.  ...
