Easy Christmas Crafts/Gifts

Do you have Santa pictures? I didn't, but now I do.   Here is the "how to" for this simple project. What you will need: a canvas in size of choice (I used 8x10) Mod Podge for photo transfers artist paint brush picture you want to transfer (I got mine from Graphics Fairy by searching for Old World Santa, and Angel) Embellishments (of your choice) small bowl of water First, print off the picture you want to transfer to the canvas. Cover the front of the picture with Mod Podge (for transfers), using your artist brush. Place it face down on the canvas, and rub the back to remove any bubbles in the picture. Leave to dry overnight. The next morning, wet your fingers and begin rubbing the back of the photo attached to the canvas. Do this until all the paper is removed, and your picture is visible on the front of the canvas.   Be sure to rub gently to keep from removing the image. Add embellishments around the canvas if desired, or frame it. To embel...

China Cabinet Christmas Decor

I tend to keep adding items to my china cabinet, but no china!! I love to store crystal etc., there instead.  Today, I'm sharing how I've added a little Christmas to the cabinet. First I moved everything out of the cabinet, then cleaned the shelves, glass doors, and dusted the inside really well.  Then I rearranged everything, and added just a few decorations. I added my Willow Tree angels to the top left shelf, along with a tinsel tree, and a dish holding pine and white tapers. My Lladro bride and groom a wedding gift from one of my best friends is also displayed here. The bottom left of the cabinet displays my Wedgewood Good Will finds. The center left glass shelf holds crystal, and this wonderful tureen I found at an estate sale for a dollar, I think.  Milk glass display.  More milk glass and a white glass vase.    They are displayed on this white cake stand from K Mart. Here is a variety of thrifting finds, e...

Tweaking the Christmas Decor

I'm sharing some changes I made to my decor in the last couple days. First, I placed batting in the lanterns on the mantel, and redecorated them. I placed a snowman in the larger of the two lanterns. The smaller of the two holds a bird house ornament, and holly and berries. I removed the red ribbon from the garland, and made bows for the tops of the lanterns. I added the white reindeer.  The two large reindeer were moved to the top of the sofa table.   I brought this antique egg basket into the dining room, and filled it with a Christmas items. The holly motif Christmas table cloth on the back of this chair came from Good Will.   Below is my other Good Will item for that day....the sweet cow!  I absolutely could not leave it in the store.  I love it! Isn't she a beauty? Shot of mantle with all the changes. I'll be sharing here: Home for Christmas Inspire Me Tuesday @  A Stroll Th...

Tiny Tree

For several years we have put up a tiny Christmas tree.  We're getting older, and I'm always happy when it's time to take everything down, that I used a small tree.  I tried to put our big one up, but it has so many plugs and sockets, I couldn't get all the lights to burn.  It would take an electrical engineer to figure out how to run those cords so that tree would light, so I lugged it back downstairs a section at the time and decided to forget it and put the small one up again. This year I chose gold and silver ornaments to decorate the tree.  I also added some pine cones, magnolia seed pods, and other natural items from the lake house property, to the tree for this year.  magnolia seed pod  I'm not sure what these are, but I wish I had more. I love the natural look of this tree ornament.  I have 2 of these, and would love to have more of them too. We all love a little animal print so I made my topper from these leopard b...

Furniture Rearranging

I had a light bulb moment today, and decided to move my late mother-in-law's jelly cupboard from the sun room to the breakfast area.  I don't know why I never thought of that before, but the spot where I moved it is the perfect place, and just the right amount of space for it. Here it is in the sun room. And here it is in the breakfast area.   The family room is to the left, and the sunroom to the right. All decked out for Christmas.... Here is the way I rearranged the sun room.  I wanted to place the plants in front of the windows, so everything got a new spot. I took down the curtains except for 2 panels.  That way the room will get full sun all morning.  I like having the rocker in the corner where the cupboard previously was.  I moved the bifold door to that corner for a punch of color. The eating table and chairs took the corner where the lounge formerly sat.  The plants will certainly get great...
