Sharing Christmas Wreaths at Shadymont

I have several wreaths at Shadymont.  I've made them all and I thought I would put them all on one post. The wreath on the front door is one I made last year and hung above the fireplace. Next up are the small wreaths I made to hang in the entry. Can't forget the burlap wreath in the dining room. Then there's the sweet snowman wreath in the sunroom. How about you, do you make your wreaths?  I'll be joining in these great parties: Have a Daily Cup With Mrs.Olson   Transformation Thursday at ShabbyCreek Cottage Feathered Nest Friday   Flaunt it Friday Show and Tell Friday

Let It Snow **

I awoke this morning at around 4 AM.  UGH!!!  I got up, made some coffee, and started purusing blogs.  I love to do that when the house is quiet and I'm the only one up.   I don't think I saw where anyone had done this, but I made a garland of burlap ribbon, and hung crocheted snowflakes, icecicles, silver snowflakes, crocheted angels, etc on it.  I tried it on the mantel, but didn't like it there.  I moved it to the doorway from the foyer into the dining room. Most of these crocheted pieces were done by a previous co-worker's Mother.  She brought these in every year at Christmas, and sold them for a dollar apiece.  I have lots more, and was thinking I should have done a small tree wih only crocheted items on it.  That's an idea for next year, or maybe an "after-Christmas" tree.  I had to add the snowy overlay.  Don't you love all the different snowflake patterns? I love burlap and white together. L...

Move This, Move That!!

For several weeks we have been in the process of moving around furniture in our bedrooms.  When hubby and I got married, he had a king-size bedroom suit and even though mine was a queen size, I didn't want to switch to the king because mine was so new.  Hubby let his son and daughter in law use his rather than move it here.  It is sooooo heavy!!  Fast forward 7 years, and we re-inherited the king-size furniture due to his son getting a divorce.  He will be working in various states, and the company he works for rents homes for their crew so he will be on the move, and needed to really pare down his possessions.   So about 3 weeks ago, we began moving things around so we could take the king-size furniture.  I had odds and ends in the guest bedroom, so a rocker, night stand and a few small pieces were taken upstairs to the bonus room/playroom.  We then took that bed apart, and stored it in the basement, took the armoire to the lake for the t.v. th...

Christmas Swag & Natural Flora

Thursday I visited a favorite antique mall, and spent a couple of hours browsing all the booths. I found this beautiful Christmas swag for only $18.00, so I quickly placed it in my shopping cart.  It had been marked down from $28.00. It would look wonderful on the front door, but I decided to use it on top of the china cabinet in the dining room.  See how large it is? Here it is in place on the china cabinet. The berries add just another touch of red, and I really like how it looks with the two little urns. This close up shows the huge pine cones and snow covered pine. I will be on the look out for a couple of cardinals to add to this swag.  Hope I can find some that are kinda large. I went to my daughter's home to let the dog out, and while waiting for her to "do her thing", I walked around the yard and gathered some Nandina berried, and fronds from Pampas grass.  When I returned home, I clipped some junnipe...

Hustle and Bustle Slow Down

I'm happy to report that the Christmas shopping is done, the gifts are wrapped, and I am ready to enjoy the rest of the season.  With the main part of the work done, I can now relax, and focus on the reason we celebrate this wondrous holiday, the greatest gift of all, Jesus.  I do have a few little things to share that I haven't shown you yet.  Like this sweet little angel bunny.  This is hand made by a lady one county over from us.  I've had it several years, a gift from a sweet friend.  Isn't she just the cutest little thing? I edited this in PicMonkey, and added the snow.  I love using that program to edit, but I'm not so good at it.  It takes a really long time for the pictures to load for some reason. Couldn't you just pinch those little cheeks?  And look at that sweet mouth. I love this old vintage white bowl (below), that belonged to my MIL.  I added some ornaments to it, then included it in the vignette on the brea...
