Christmas at Shadymont

I finished some of my Christmas decorating over the weekend and will link to Tabletop Tuesday  hosted by our dear friend Marty.  Thanks again Marty for inviting all of us over.  Be sure you stop by and join in the fun.  You'll see some awesome ideas for dressing your home for Christmas. This is a shot of the mantle.  Don't you love the butterflies? This is a corner in the dining room.  My plate rack is all ready for Christmas.    Here is a close-up of the acorns. A shot of the dining room table.  Excuse the color.  The reds are much deeper than they appear.  The green glasses belonged to my MIL.  Does anyone know anything about these glasses.  I have a feeling they may have been included with Laundry detergent or something like that.  They have no markings and are tall, slim cylinder type glasses.    This is another view of the mantle garland.  The...

We Need A Little Christmas Now

I have been away from home and blogland for an entire week.  We have been working on our home in South Georgia and I was too busy to blog.  I'm back home now, although hubby is still there, and I decided to do just a little Christmas decorating this evening.  So far, I've started on the dining room table and have done a couple of side tables.  I hope to do more tomorrow. I bought this little plate today at a thrift shop for fifty cents.  It's Canterbury, Royal Daulton, England.  The floral is a Kirkland's find from some time ago, the candle holder came from Sweet Tea Consignment Shop, and the angels and baby Jesus is a gift from my daughter and grandson from about 8 or 9 years ago.  I think this makes a nice Christmas vignette. Close up of the plate. This runner was purchased at Dollar General for $5.00.  It is about 6 ft long. I found this cross last week at Michael's for $6.00 on clearance.  It ...

Frugal Christmas Decor

Today I am sharing a couple of items that I purchased yesterday at Sweet Tea Consignment Shop. This is a huge pinecone (faux), but I thought it was so pretty. ($3.99) This small wreath/candle ring was only $2.99.  Here it is displayed a couple of ways (temporarily).  I will incorporate both these items in my Christmas decorations. Here it is holding my green ceramic pumpkin from Tuesday Morning. Here is the green bowl I found last week in South Georgia.  The pine cones are from the yard there, and these ornaments are from Lowe's. Just a few recent frugal finds. What have you found recently? Today I'm linking to Finding Fabulous for Frugalicious Friday at http://decormamma.blogspot.com/ Please drop in for a visit.  Our gracious hostess would love to have you.

Christmas Open House

While in South Georgia over the weekend, I not only browsed through the thrift shops, I went into a "high-end"  interiors shop.  It was absolutely gorgeous.  They were preparing and decorating for yesterday's Christmas Open House.  I didn't dare become too obvious with my trusty cell phone camera, but I did snap a few shots for you.  I will be linking to Marty at A Stroll Through Life for Tabletop Tuesday.  I hope you enjoy this little taste of Christmas. See the pretty tabletop display below.  I love the pottery pieces and the lamp. The picture doesn't do justice to the bookcases.  They were gorgeous. I will be using the idea of the wreath on the mirror in my home this Christmas.  I bought the hooks today, so I am all set.  Can't wait to decorate, but am trying to wait until after Thanksgiving.  Do you notice the Merry Christmas tucked into the greenery on the sofa table?  So pretty. This Christmas tree was one of the...

Thanks and Thrifting Finds

First of all, thanks to my new followers.  The list is growing, slowly, but I'm thankful for everyone who chooses to follow. My hubby and I have been at our home in South Georgia for the past few days, and I have not been able to blog.  While we were there I went exploring.  I found a little second hand store called the Treasure Hut.  They had great stuff and even better prices.  I found this huge plate for $6.00.  It's about 14 inches across. I will share pictures when I decide where this will go.  I think he will probably live on the top of the kitchen cabinet. These 2 plates were $1.00 each.   This green dish was only $3.00.  Please ignore the dirt from the pine cones.  I had just picked them up from the yard and didn't bother to wash the dish before taking the picture.  You will see this dish again in Christmas decorations.  It is so pretty. While in town, I went in Rite Aid and found a bunch of things for 1...

Cockadoodle doo

Friday was a good day.  I went to Sweet Tea my new favorite consignment shop.  There he was standing on a table near the window, this handsome fellow!  And, he's a lamp!  Joy, Joy! I looked at him for a while and walked away.  Looked through the entire store, then went back to look at him again.  He was priced at $19.95 .  You know what I did next.....I stood there thinking about it, I don't really need another lamp, I thought.  But there was just something about his stature, the set of his head, then there was that shade......  Toile.  But I'm still thinking, I really don't need anything else for the house.  It's bursting at the seams already.  "Walk away"  kept ringing in my ears.  I tried, I really did. But alas, I could not leave this handsome fellow.  So, he came home with me and here he is in all his glory!  Isn't he a handsome dude?  I knew I wanted him in the breakfast nook. So I placed him...

Simple elegance

I love using white, silver and pink together.  I am sharing my recent tabletop and china cabinet vignettes using those colors.  Don't you just love the little fairies?  Their wings are gossamer.  I got them at Kirkland's several years ago.  They remind me of little girls playing together.  Enjoy!! The silver service belonged to my late mother-in-law.  She passed away 4 years ago at the age of 96.  She was always so careful to keep it polished so I try to do so too. Silver Service The NAO bride and groom figurine was a wedding gift from my best friend. The china belonged to my mother in law also.  It has a gray band with a pink floral design on white.  I just love it. The grapes are crystal from a gift shop near my home.  They are actually Christmas Ornaments. Linking today to Chari for Sunday Favorites.

Table Tops Galore

Today I am sharing several different tabletops.  Some of these are recent and some are as far back as 2 or 3 years.  I changed out the rust colored tablecloth and decor yesterday in the dining room.  I know you can't believe this, but I changed it again today.  Had to.  Saw this green leaf tablecloth today at Ross for $7.99.  It had to come home with me, so I added some ribbon to the candle holder, called in the turkeys and now it's different again.  The "word" acorns say "Give Thanks".  They were $1.00 at DG.  Look at this pretty hen and her bitties.  She was waiting for me at Ross today as well.  She was only $8.00. I think she is adorable!!!  These are hung on ornament stands that I use at Christmas.  The table cloth is greener than it appears in the picture.  This picture was made several years ago.  The little lamp on the left was from a consignment shop.  The artwork is by a local artist, John Kollock...
