Simple Tablescape in Green and Gold

I was thinking that I haven't done a table scape in a long time. I had this table cloth on for quite some time, and the huge tool box as a center piece, filled with blue mason jars.  It was time for a change.  I kept the table cloth with it's pineapple design.  It's reversible, but I love it on the lighter side.  Next I layered a fabric remnant I got in a bag of fabric from GW, and used it as a short runner.  So far the colors are gold and green, two colors that are prominent in the room. For a centerpiece, I placed faux succulents and grass into a chicken wire basket from consignment. I like the lightness of the centerpiece. I chose a gold charger, green dinner plate, and a white salad plate as the dish ware. All from different sets, but the colors I wanted to use. I chose 2 napkins, solid green, and green and gold plaid, then used a pewter hammered napkin ring to tie in with the silverware. The stem ware is some my husband had, and has a diamon...

Artful Accents & Tuesday Treasures

A while ago, I found a shower curtain at Good Will with blue birds on it.   It was in great condition, and clean, so I purchased it.  Since then, I've found quite a few items to use with it.  It's in the guest bath. I found this picture with the perfect blue, crackled frame, and have used it ever since.  Then the other day, I came upon this sweet blue vase. It is a perfect accessory for the room.  I added some geraniums I already had. Today, I found another picture to use in the room.   I painted the outer edge of the frame white, then distressed it. The blue bird works great in here.  I looked through my towels, and found a large blue one, a blue wash cloth, and a brown one to bring in the other colors in the shower curtain. This dish is also a new find from Good Will.  it goes perfectly in the sun room. I picked up a few books as well! Sharing here: Tuesdays at our home @...

Collection: Vintage Dishes

I have so many collections, and just keep adding more.  I tend to collect vintage items that speak to my heart.  I'll be sharing various collections with you over the next few weeks. My favorite collection, Vintage Dishes. They don't have to have roses on them, but I find these are the ones that I buy. I have a collection of rose plates above the windows in the sun room. I have a corner cabinet filled with vintage dishes that belonged to my mother and MIL, the majority of which are Blue Ridge. I have quite a bit of Depression glass. I love this huge platter. This plate is dated 1938. I remember eating from these green plates while growing up. This yellow ware bowl was my mother's. The small one is a Roseville found at Good Will. This berry bowl is great for holding jewelry.  Wedgwood plate  Beautiful gravy bowl Another vintage plate I hope you've enjoyed this collection of ...

Prettied Up

A few years ago, I bought a bird cage on clearance at Lowe's.  I already had this plant stand.  It had been on the screened porch in one spot or another ever since. I decided it needed to be prettied up. I placed paper towels over the birds as best I could, sat the cage inside a plastic bin, turned on it's end, and sprayed with white spray paint with primer that I already had in my stash.   Next, I uncovered the birds, and using a long handled artist brush, I gave them a new coat with acrylic craft paints.  Once everything dried, I brought it into the sunroom where I discovered that the bottom will unhook, so I added a birds nest I already had. Then I tied a ribbon around the top and attached a tag with a fleur de lis. Much brighter and prettier to look at.   What have you prettied up recently?
