You Gotta See This!

I bought the cutest little thingie at the Farmer's Market.  I had an early hair appointment, so I stopped to make my weekly vegetable run, and came upon this pretty, that had to come home with me.  I normally wouldn't buy this, but today, I said what the heck, and did it!!  Now I want one for the lakehouse, and hubby said we would get one! Whoo-hoo!! There it is, right in the front! See it??  It has a solar lamp on top. Isn't it the neatest thing? I loved it when I saw it, so I just bought it even though it was a little more than I wanted it to be (gotta go yard saleing too, you know).     I moved it to the left of the bench so it would be more noticable, and also help light the front steps. It's really heavy, so I don't think it will blow over! "Welcome to our home in the mountains." I guess it could be called an Outdoor Silhouette with Solar light???    ???? Bargain Lamps Makeover

I shared recently about a subdivision that was having yard sales. My favorite find from there were these lamps. They were marked $5.00 each!  I literally paid for these with quarters!!! I originally used shades that were on the lamps I had here before finding these.  I liked the look, but really wanted drum shades. I made a trip to Wal Mart, and they had two drum shades marked down to $9.00 each, so I bought them. I think they were marked down due to a flaw on this shade.  You would never notice the flaw, and I'm not showing it to anyone, so we're good.

Finding Fabulous

I've been under the weather for some time, so when my husband offered to take me to my fave consignment shop, I was happy to go.  We enjoyed browsing the shop, and of course we came home with a few goodies! I had seen this wonderful vase the last time I was there, so when I saw it again, I decided it should be mine!  I love the crazing, and believe it to be vintage with its lovely crazing. I love the colors, and the raised design, and the gold just sets it off!! I have it on my mantel holding hydrangeas and white roses (faux of course). Isn't it pretty? See the lovely crazing!  I think it was used a lot! Here is the rear of the vase.  It is definitely reversible!   LOVE it!! Next is this sweet little "chest". It has 3 deep drawers.  I haven't decided how I'll use it yet, but I loved the colors and of course the chicks!! Love hoe the chick is painted to cover the corner.   The other item we bought is ...

Lucky 21 (Dollars, that is)

I had another post ready, but I was so excited about my yard sales finds today, I just had to go ahead and tell you about it!! Y'all remember when I told you about the little chair I got for $15.00, last week?  Well yesterday and today, that same subdivision was having yard sales, house, after house!  Oh Lord, y'all, it was fabulous!  I hit several jackpots, and am so excited to tell you about them! First home I went to, I bought 2 lamps, and a great picture for $13.00!  These beauties were only $5.00 each, they are HEAVY!!  I love the pineapple motif!   This picture was $3.00, and it is huge!  I'm pretty sure it is going to the lake house.  We use lots of blue there, and have other pictures in the living room there that have the white washed frames, so this will work great there!! Here are the lamps in the family room!  I'm using the shades that were in this room until I can find what I want. I think I want drum shades. ...

Makeover of an Old Bamboo Box

A while back, I gave an old bamboo box a makeover.  I was in the basement, with no camera, and picked up this box, and just started painting it with leftover paints I had. Sorry there's not a before picture, but you will get the idea, it was just plain bamboo wood, no color other than the way it came. Here is what I did to update it and make it more likely that I would decorate with it.  If you follow me, you know, Aqua, Turquoise, and greens are some of my favorite colors.  So, as usual, that is what I used. So, if you can, imagine it all being like the gold/brown you see here. Here is the top of the box.  I used some pale yellow and the aqua on the top. The ends of the box has these huge rings that I love. (this photo shows the color best). I'm really liking this box about now! But I continued working on it. I took some old fabric scraps and glued it inside the box lid and the box itself. Today, I found this grap...
