Remember the Miracles

The message I heard this morning was one of profound truth, and I want to share the gist of it with you.  The Pastor spoke about those times when you have doubt.  Not doubt in God, but in yourself, or when you feel you can not hear what God is wanting you to do.  He said this is a time to REMEMBER.  Remember the times when God has worked a miracle in your life, when he has answered a prayer.  He wants us to remember things He has done in our lives and know that He never changes.  As the Pastor spoke, I thought of many times God has answered my prayers, when He worked miracles in my life.   One time particularly, that popped into my mind was a time in the early eighties (when I was married to my first husband) when we had a long, severe drought.  Our well had gone dry. (We lived in the country, and did not have public water).  At the time neither of us was making a lot of money.  We had a company come and try to bore a new well. ...

Creating Simple, Easy Fall Crafts

I'll be the first to admit that this first project took absolutely no skill or imagination.  I've noticed that everyone is making banners to use in their fall decor, so I decided to make one.  First I cut a piece of jute twine, didn't even measure because I knew it could be cut   shorter.  I eyeballed and cut a pennant shaped piece from a brown paper grocery bag, then used it to cut three more pieces of the same size.  I then stenciled  F A L L on it in orange paint and stapled the paper to the twine.  Here it is!   Fall Banner Cost $0 Here is a recap of my recent Fall projects. None of these cost very much.  Only the pillow took over about five or ten minutes.  burlap pillow Cost $0  burlap wreath Cost approx $3.00 for wreath form  fabric pumpkin Cost, 1 roll of toilet tissue (had everything)  pumpkin made from dryer vent hose Cost $0 Stenciled burlap bag Cost approximate...

Guest Bath

I wanted to show you what is being used for a table in my guest bath.  I got the idea from The Bold Abode here .  Gwen painted her table in a "bold" color.  Mine is white, but the idea is the same.    It takes up little space, and has items a guest might need in plain view which is so important! What do you think?  I really liked the idea, so I just copied! Here is the tour of the guest bath. It's a small room with no window and a little hard to photograph. These topiary pictures have moved from the powder room to this bath. The walls are Gallery Beige, a taupe color.  I copied this idea from someone's blog too, but can't remember who. I like the little pitcher hanging inside the frame. Hand creams and lotions are kept in plain view as well. I don't remember where I got the shower curtain. This shows a mirror and picture both from Kirkland's.  The lamp was found at a consignment shop....

Autumn Cloches and Pumpkins

10/3/13:  I am linking this post from a year ago to  the linky party at Glitter, Glue & Paint, Throw back party!  This post was originally published on 10/12/12.   All the cloches at my home are filled with pumpkins this year for the Fall Cloche Party at Marty's! This is the largest cloche I have.  I found it at a consignment shop.  It is holding a small terra cotta pot with a birds nest and butterfly, and two pumpkins.  One reads "God Bless Our Home", and the other reads " Harvest Blessings".   This cloche sits atop a plate stand I made, and holds a single white ceramic pumpkin.   I like the understated elegance of this cloche arrangement.  This wire cloche is a favorite of mine.  It gives the brown pumpkin a feeling of importance.  The green on the saucer makes the cloche look like it has aged outside. I again placed a brown pumpkin inside this cloche. They both sit on a shelf in the...

Evening at Shadymont

I love the coziness of our home in the evenings.  After dark, everything takes on a warm glow.   The glow of lamplight is so relaxing. Today I switched out the bookcase I painted with ASCP and the little table I had in the corner with the old door.  It goes without saying that I moved the accessories all around.   Nothing's sacred.  What's here today is there tomorrow. This is now in the powder room.  You may remember I found this table cloth for $2.00 at a yard sale.  I first showed it here .  It's vintage Wielander and easily sells for thirty to forty dollars, but I found one online priced at ninety dollars.   This is my view from my favorite blogging spot. I de-cluttered my bookcases a little.  All the family pictures are on the right side now, and only a couple of fabric pumpkins are added for a nod to fall. This is my blogging spot.  This is the view into the dini...

Free & Easy Floral Arrangement Upgrade

I went to a favorite consignment shop last week, and found the cutest fall arrangement for $8.00. The leaves and berry stems were all bent up, and it needed to be "fluffed" a little, but I think it's really cute. I dusted it as best I could, and straightened the leaves and berries.  Pheasant feathers are so pretty.  I think this is the perfect spot for it.   I like the leather tag hanging from the vase. I love finding these items at a thrifty price.   The berries blend in nicely with the flowers in the picture hanging above the table, and the green lantern, brings out the greens in the picture so well.  Even though I like the arrangement as it is, I decided it needed a little more color.  I removed a few stems from my P&G Basket arrangement below, and added them to this arrangement. Here is how the thrifted arrangement looks now. Much better! I think this is a great improvement, and it cost NOTHING!...
