I do love my rooster lamp with the toile shade. You've seen it several times. I decided to make a burlap cover for the shade. First I took the shade off and traced around each section, across the length, and the width, onto paper. I ended up with these two sizes of paper. I folded the burlap and pinned the pattern onto it. and cut about an extra inch all the way around the pattern. However, since I have finished this project, if I should do this again, I will add at least 2 inches all the way around. I stitched the pieces together, and placed the cover over the lamp. As you can see, even with a piece of ribbon "pinned" on to the bottom, it was still a little small. Light bulb moment! I remembered all the burlap runners seen in blog land with the ruffles on the ends.
